The Chicago City Council Wednesday approved what many aldermen referred to as a "Bad News Budget" -- the layoffs of around 635 city workers accounting for much of the cloudy mood in the chambers of City Hall.

After winning five straight regional titles, Resurrection's obvious goal for the 2008-09 season is to make it six in a row. But accomplishing that feat will not be easy. Resurrection (23-7 last year) was hit hard by graduation, losing all five starters, including superstar Deanna Ortiz, who is now playing college hoops at DePaul.
